For Christians, the familiarity of the word “Incarnation” can breed complacency. We presume to know what it means—Christmas, right?—but do we really? Through the lens of relevant biblical texts, key medieval mystics, and contemporary theologians, we are invited to go beyond a surface understanding of Incarnation and to take a deeper look at its truly outrageous nature.
