Should Physicians Help Patients End Their Lives? A Debate

The debaters, Dr. Daniel Sulmasy and Dr. Timothy Quill, are doctors and bioethics experts. Dr. Sulmasy is a Professor of Ethics at Georgetown and was appointed to the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Problems by President Obama in April 2010.  Dr. Quill is a palliative care physician from the University of Rochester and was the lead physician plaintiff in the New York State legal case challenging the law prohibiting physician-assisted death that was heard in 1997 by the U.S. Supreme Court (Quill v.
