My roommate and I are looking for someone (women preferred) to sublet a fully furnished bedroom in our beautiful pre war apartment in West Harlem, beginning December 1st (move in date flexible). I work in healthcare and my roommate works in the nonprofit sector. Our apartment is very big, with lots of character, high ceilings, and original wood floors. The place is renovated and our kitchen is bigger and more functional than you ever imagined an NYC kitchen could be. The room itself is fully furnished with a full size bed, desk, and dresser and has a sizable closet with room for storage.
About the area: We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to be living in Harlem’s most up and coming neighborhood. Our living room overlooks Morningside Park, home to a farmer’s market on Saturdays that’s open April-Dec and pleasant running paths. We live just within a few blocks of Harlem’s best restaurants and brunch spots, and within two blocks of a great grocery store as well as a Whole Foods 15min away. We’re a 4min walk from the local B/C train and a 7min walk from the 125th A/B/C/D stop. Columbia’s Morningside campus is a 10min walk away and the Columbia Medical campus is 30min away via subway.
About Us: We’re both in our late twenties, studying and working. We’re both pretty laid back and like to keep it quite on the weeknights and go out on weekends. We’re conscious about keeping the place clean and tidy, and really value communication and openness as roommates.
About You: A busy working professional or graduate student around our age (mid 20s-early 30s) who likes the laid back vibe, but is also clean, respectful, and welcomes open communication amongst roommates. Someone who’s down to hang together in the living room or have good conversations with, but also likes their own space and respect’s others as well.
Rent is $1200/month plus electricity and WiFi which come out to ~$45/month. Move in requires first, last month’s rent and a $400 security deposit. This is a sublet beginning December 1st or by mid December ideally. We’re flexible about the move out date, particularly for someone who is a great fit, but we are looking for a 4-5 month commitment with the possibility to extend the sublet. If interested, we’d love to hear from you! Tell us about yourself, what you’re up to in the city, a bit about your schedule and lifestyle, and your proposed move in and move out dates!
