Part Time Paid Internship for the Office of Young Adult Outreach

Mission:
The Young Adult Outreach Internship program is a great opportunity for a young adult to learn the ins and outs of Young Adult Ministry. Working with the largest Archdiocesan Young Adult Outreach program in the country, the intern will have the unique opportunity to help run events, strategize on evangelization, complete office work, and attend meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all that is asked from the Director and Assistant Director of Young Adult Outreach.
- Attend and assist at various young adult events, requiring nights and weekends.
- Attend Young Adult Masses throughout the year from the various Young Adult Groups.
- Help the Director of Young Adult Outreach set up the Archdiocesan Leaders meeting 3 times a year. (Primarily helping with emails).
- Assist the Director and team with the Young Adult Mass.
- Assist the team with the Love & Responsibility Summer Series.
- Assist with the “You Did It To Me” Apostolic program.
- Help to set up/take down all required young adult events.
- Sometimes assist with the Life to the Full Book Club.
- Sometimes assist with other Love and Life programs.
- Prepare the weekly Catholic NYC email blast.
- Assist with Archdiocesan monthly Holy Hours.
- Attend all Leaders’ Meetings.
- Greet all visitors who come to the Young Adult Office.
- Answer phone calls when necessary.
- Enter emails collected at young adult events into the CatholicNYC website.
- Assisting with various tasks that come up.
Performance Standards:
- Represent the Archdiocese in a professional and positive manner.
- Implement all that is asked from the Director and Assistant Director of Office of Young Adult Outreach.
- Complete on time all assignments given by the Office Administrator.
- Attend at least one young adult event a week.
- Work part-time 22 hours a week.
Requirements:
- Committed to live, and ability to articulate, the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Good leadership experience and abilities.

The Director of Discipleship plays an integral role in our overall vision of creating intentional disciples. Collaborating with the Pastor and the Senior Leadership Team, the Director designs and implements a comprehensive approach aimed at creating disciples through RCIA, Adult Faith Formation, Family Faith Program, Religious Education, and Youth Ministry. The ideal candidate is a vibrant Catholic in good standing who is passionate about the incredible gift of the Catholic Faith and takes to heart the command of our Savior to “Go therefore, and make disciples…”. Familiarity with the work of Sherry Weddell on Forming Intentional Disciples and best practices on moving a parish from maintenance to mission by Father Mallon, Father Michael White and others working, writing, and researching in the field of parish renewal.
Qualifications
• A Practicing Catholic who is faithful to all that the Catholic Church holds to be true
• Master’s Degree in Theology or related field, or Bachelor’s Degree + extensive and effective experience in the field
• A deep desire and faculty in leading through consensus, conflict resolution, group dynamics, and group facilitation
• People management experience and/or demonstrated ability to lead without direct authority
• Change agile; demonstrated ability to take calculated risks, evaluate results and adjust as necessary
• Experience in evangelization including in the formation of intentional disciples
• Strong time management skills, including the ability to assess, plan, implement and measure the effectiveness of programs in a timely manner
• Professional writing and speaking skills

Detailed Job Responsibilities
Establishes an overall discipleship plan as a component of the strategic parish plan
Oversees all faith formation programming of adult, young adult, family, pre-school and elementary, middle school and youth ministries. Plans and executes programming as needed
Explore and be flexible in establishing alternative models for delivering religious formation for families and children requiring formation support outside the established programming
Has supervisory and training responsibility for paid staff working in religious education and adult faith formation ministry
Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to assist with formation efforts. Work with volunteers to develop their knowledge, spiritual lives, leadership potential and accountability for outcomes in discipleship efforts
Works with other parish ministers to promote cohesive, effective programming which fosters discipleship among all parish ministries
Provide oversight to the RCIA Coordinator, and eventually – develop and provide oversight to a Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Team
Working with the Deacon, support the baptismal preparation process, and eventually – develop and provide oversight to a baptismal preparation team
Organize, oversee, and execute the marriage preparation process, and eventually – develop and provide oversight to a marriage preparation team

TITLE: Administrative Assistant 1/2017
REPORTS TO: Associate Manager
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Director, Associate Manager or designee, the position of Administrative Assistant is to provide necessary support in coordinating with and being the primary liaison between the Child Nutrition Program and Cafeteria Staff with respect to payroll and human resources documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These duties include, but are not limited to:
Payroll
- Process payroll for all Child Nutrition Schools covering over 220 employees.
- Follow payroll operations by following all policies and procedures for reporting and entering changes in the Payroll Lawson System.
- Create and update all changes to timesheets for cafeteria employees.
- Retrieve all cafeteria staff timesheets biweekly though E-fax e-mail account.
- Setup and revise employee W-4 and IT-2104, Direct Deposit information as requested.
- Review and resolve payroll discrepancies, calculate and verify hours worked, personal/sick time, retro pay, jury duty, training reimbursements, disability pay and Worker’s Compensation.
- Mail employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
- Process all Cafeteria Employee Garnishments and complying with all applicable agencies and laws.
- Maintain all payroll related binders.
- Maintain current cafeteria employee spreadsheets.
- File all tax forms and timesheets in designated office area.
HR Liaison
- Interview all new hires, review company policies (handbook) safety precaution training.
- Check the accuracy of all new hire applications before submitting to HR.
- Prepare and process new hire applications, confirm the accuracy of all information before submission to HR department for background checks.
- Prepare and update HR with: New Hires, Work Hour Changes, Salary Changes, Name Changes, Address Changes Terminations, and Transfers.
- Process Disability and Worker’s Comp paperwork/follow-up on employee status with school supervisors; update HR as often as possible.
- Release employee earnings for housing verification to field supervisors as requested, throughout the school year.
Additional Duties
- Collect and file all employee Department of Health Food Protection Certificates.
- Organize, in conjunction with the Director and Associate Manager, the Cafeteria Employee Annual Training
- Assist Associate Manager in various facets of: CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program), BIC (Breakfast in the Classroom), and FFVP (Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Program).
- Answering incoming calls related to payroll and HR matters
- Preparing correspondence related to payroll and HR matters
- Communicating daily with field supervisors and cafeteria staff.
- Perform multifaceted general office support as needed
- Providing support and assistance with the coordination and/or implementation of Child Nutrition programs and events which include, but are not limited to: National School Breakfast Week; BIC rollout; NYSED Annual Reviews, and both Title I and non-Title I Summer Programs
- Assisting auditors as needed
- Assisting Director and CNP personnel with all projects as needed
- Attending trainings and professional education at the direction of the CNP Director
