The primary responsibility of this position is to:
Serve as advisor to the Superintendent of Schools with responsibility for promoting and sustaining Catholic Identity and effective Religious Education for the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York.
Responsibilities include:
High School Religious Education
- Implement the USCCB High School Religion Guidelines
- Coordinate meetings on an as needed basis with high school religion department chairpersons – facilitate discussion on matters of religious education
- Organize the annual High School Religion Conference
- Plan and execute the annual High School Pro-Life Leadership Day
- Collaborate with the Secondary Schools Administrator on planning for the Annual Senior Masses
Elementary School Religious Education
- Supervise and support the preparation and coordination of the annual Archdiocesan Religion Exam
- Collaborate with Regional Boards and Regional Superintendent’s offices with the implementation of the Catholic Identity Assessment Tool
- Supervise and support the direction and administration of the Catechist Formation Program in the Catholic School Community
- Provide professional development as needed
Other
- Serve as the Superintendent’s liaison to the Partnership schools on matters of religious education
- Assist in preparation of liturgies and prayer services for the Superintendent’s office
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
