Overview: For over 200 years, the Archdiocese of New York has preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to millions of people from every conceivable background and ethnicity. Encompassing Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan Ulster, and Westchester counties, as well as the boroughs of Manhattan, Staten Island, and the Bronx, the Archdiocese of New York currently serves approximately 2.8 million Catholics in rural, urban, and suburban settings. The ADNY Development Office exists to fundraise for the multitude of charitable, educational, and pastoral activities of this vast archdiocese, and as part of our team, you will play an invaluable role in aiding pastors and parishioners to build and sustain active ministries and vibrant community life throughout the Archdiocese of New York.
Primary Responsibility: To steward and increase major gifts ($1,000-$4,999) to the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal
Direct Supervisor: Director, Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal
Responsibilities:
- Manage a total portfolio of 1,700-2,500 major donors ($1,000-$4,999) with specific renewal, upgrade, conversion, and re-engagement strategies
- Create dynamic stewardship and personalized cultivation strategies, including leveraging events, giving societies, and tailored mailings, as well as phone calls and in-person meetings
- Oversee and produce annual online and print ads for Friends of the Cardinal’s Appeal and Assembly of Stewards
- Accompany campaign managers to identify five key parishes per manager for tailored major gift solicitation strategies
- Assist in the annual mail file segmentation
- Track and project donor activity in portfolio
- Ensure that all major donor acknowledgements are processed in a timely manner
- Provide administrative and logistical support for major donor events (approximately six-eight per year)
- Special projects as needed
Impact:
- Renew and upgrade 15% of Appeal donors to Principal Gift Manager portfolios ($5,000+)
- Convert 15% of new capital campaign donors (144) to annual fund
- Re-activate giving for 15% of Appeal donors lapsed for three or more years

You Have
- A bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years of fundraising experience with measurable results and a strong emphasis on major gifts
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and a deep understanding of Catholic culture
- The proven skills and ability to manage multi-phase projects from inception to completion
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Luminate, and standard research tools preferred
