Qualifications: M.L.S., M.A. in Theology or Religious Education, and 3-5 year’s experience as an academic library administrator. Knowledge of OCLC Cataloging, LCSH’s, RDA, and experience workingwith an Integrated Library System. Applicant should be comfortable working in cooperation and collaboration with the other seminary libraries of the St. Charles Borromeo Inter-Diocesan Partnership, in Huntington, Long Island and Douglaston Queens. Applicant should also have excellent communications skills
Job Description:
The Director of the Corrigan Library is responsible to the Rector, and is expected to work closely with the Academic Dean. The Director enjoys faculty status at the Seminary.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily operations of the library, such as cataloging, reference service, interlibrary loans, instruction, etc.
- Responsible for hiring and supervising library staff, allocating duties and setting work schedules
- Plans and administers the library budget
- Responsible for all aspects of the library’s cataloging operations
- Responsible for the selection and acquisition of library materials
- Works closely with the faculty of St. Joseph’s to ensure that individual collections remain viable academic resources
- Acts as a liaison to OCLC and other library vendors
- Insures that all shared electronic resources are to be made available to St. Joseph’s students both on and off of each of St. Joseph’s campuses
- Responsible for overseeing the compliance with the requirements of accreditation for St. Joseph’s Seminary Library
- Oversees appropriate cooperation in information literacy instruction for both staff and students of St. Joseph’s Seminary
- Participate in professional organizations that will both raise the profile of seminary & lay education in the New York area and benefit the seminary library through contact with other theological libraries
- Works with library committee to develop policies and projects
- Insures that services are being delivered at the library
