Candlemas-Candelaría Blessing of Candles Procession & Latin Mass
February 2, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am EST
Bring candles to be blessed
On Saturday, February 2, 2019, the Church Universal celebrates the Presentation of the Lord and the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Temple, the 40th and Last Day of Christmas and the World Day for Consecrated Life.
To commemorate this Joyful Mystery, the Church blesses candles, a sacramental symbol of prayer and offering to God. It is recommended that each household have blessed candles for when the Blessed Sacrament is brought by the Priest for sick calls, during storms for protection and to assist the dying in their final agony.
At 9:00 A.M., there will be the blessing and distribution of Candles, Procession and High Mass in Latin, 1962 MR-EF. You are most welcome to bring candles to be blessed for your houses. Mass will be followed by the First Saturday devotions. Confessions will be heard before Mass and after Mass during adoration.
