A staged reading of actual testimony from the trial of Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell. www.GosnellPlay.com“Oh Gosnell: A Show about the Truth” tells the true-crime story of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, of the Women’s Medical Society, a clinic in inner-city Philadelphia which turned out to be a murderous house of horrors. And it reveals the coverup by regulators and law enforcement that allowed him to kill – because they did not want to put a negative spotlight on abortion.
The New York Theatre world is doing its utmost to close it down. First the Theatre broke its contract and left the play without a home. The play was thrown out six days before curtain up. Then two actors walked out less than 24 hours before the previews started. However the Producers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney (they made the movie and wrote the book) have recast and found a new venue.
The play is told verbatim: every word comes from Grand Jury and criminal trial transcripts. It tells the stories of actual people – patients, victims, co-workers and investigators – and the terrible crimes which sent Dr. Gosnell to prison for life.
The play is in direct response to an “abortion comedy” that is being funded by Hollywood Producer JJ Abrams. They both open on the same night – Thursday May 5th. We need a crowd to show that censorship will not work and that there is an appetite for the truth.
