“I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. …No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. ” Joshua 1 3-6

It can be terrifying to set out on the journey to healing from abortion. The fear of having to look at what we have done and perhaps see what we have imagined, that we are terrible people, can be paralyzing, but the truth is what we are probably feeling is not the way God sees us. Although our abortions were and always are wrong, He desires us to return to Him and to heal us. He loves us.

The first stop on our healing journey is the “Day of Prayer & Healing.” Like the Israelites who traveled for forty years before reaching the Promised Land, those who have experienced abortion often “wander in the desert” of suffering for years. The decision to attend a Day of Prayer and Healing requires a leap of faith and great courage.

For someone who has been in the desert of post-abortive suffering, responding to an invitation to a Day of Prayer and Healing is a grace: a grace of faith in the promise of a loving God and a grace of hope that His promise of love is real, personal and forgiving. Attending the Day not only allows new seeds of Faith, Hope and Love to be planted, it also nourishes the desire for healing and encourages the heart on the way to wholeness.
