Primary Responsibility: The Major Gifts Associate is responsible for the stewarding, cultivating, and soliciting of major and planned gifts for Inner-City Scholarship Fund.
Direct Supervisor: Senior Director, Development
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for soliciting gifts of $10,000 and higher from current and prospective donors
- Manage relationships with approximately 100 current donors which includes continued cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
- Support Executive Director and Senior Director in arranging meetings, creating briefings, prospect research, and contribute to the development strategy
- Prepare proposals as needed
- Provide endowment reports and customized renewal reports to major donors
- Maintain up-to-date records on all donor contact in Raiser’s Edge
- Assist with Board of Trustees meetings and events as needed
- Work collaboratively with and in support of the CEA development team to cultivate and solicit donors for organization-wide priorities
- Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing major gifts
- Oversee special projects as needed
Performance Standards:
- Build a pipeline of major gift prospects with the goal of increasing current donor giving and acquiring new donors
- Arrange and/or conduct 50+ personal visits with prospects
- Develop comprehensive a stewardship plan
- Achieve fundraising goal
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Three-to-five years experience in major gifts fundraising or equivalent work related experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Broad-based nonprofit business experience
- Understanding of and appreciation for the mission of Inner-City, as well as the national dialogue about education reform as a whole
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
