Position Title: Project Coordinator
Department: Youth Faith Formation

About the Department:
The mission of the department is build the Kingdom of God by supporting, training, and resourcing the parishes of the Archdiocese of New York in their ministry to evangelize and form young people and their families from birth to twelfth grade. Made up of a team of ministry experts and consultants that work collaboratively, the department marries the richness of Catholic Church with understanding of the needs of today’s young people and families to foster disciples of Jesus in the community of the Catholic faith.
Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works collaboratively with the various members of the departmental team, outside experts, vendors, and short-term working groups to ensure the various initiatives, projects, and events of the Department of Youth Faith Formation reflect the vision of the archdiocese and the department and are on-time, within budget, and of high quality.
- Work with all archdiocesan ministries to further the archdiocesan mission to live, proclaim, and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ specifically working closely and collaboratively offices of Adult Faith Formation, Catholic Schools, Ethnic Apostolates, Family Life, Liturgy, Respect Life, and Young Adult Outreach
- Work in collaboration with the staff of the department of youth faith formation to promote and support comprehensive ministry with young people and their families from birth to twelfth grade
- In collaboration with other members of the departmental team and/or working groups, determine the scope and objectives of various projects, events, or initiatives
- Predict the resources needed to reach the objectives for the various projects, events, or initiatives and manage those resources effectively
- Track project costs in order to remain within budget
- Develop and manage detailed project timelines and implementation plans
- Update stakeholders of the various projects, events, or initiatives regarding progress and adjustments
- Establish and maintain relationships with working group members and vendors
- Coordinate contracts with vendors and speakers
- Perform risk management assessments as needed and report on risk issues
- Engage stakeholders and team members to ensure the completion of their assigned tasks
- Develop evaluation strategies and track responses
- Coordinate current annual projects and initiatives such as, but not limited to the Forums for Catechesis and Youth Ministry, New York Catholic Youth Day, Certification and Recognition Ceremony, professional days
- Remain updated on archdiocesan safe environment policies
- Submit periodic reports to the Executive Director
- Participate in departmental team and working-group meetings
- Complete other duties, as assigned
Required Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree. Degrees in business, computer science, or related field a plus (equivalent experience considered)
- Three years of project management and related experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others as well as be self-motivated and work independently
- Exhibits on continually growing expertise on trends, methods, teachings, and research in project management
- Interculturally competent with a strong sensitivity and awareness of the multicultural reality of the archdiocese
- Roman Catholic a plus
- Experience as a catechist, youth ministry team member, D/CRE, or youth ministry coordinator a plus
- Enjoys being an active member of a team in a joyful work environment
- Able to work flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends as needed
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the archdiocese
- Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and online navigation and research
- Familiarity with online team collaborative programs such as Slack, Sharepoint, Dropbox, etc. a plus
