DIANE MONROE “SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE A MOTHERLESS CHILD”

Diane Monroe is a violinist whose versatility and artistry consistently bring audiences to their feet. Her visibility as a jazz artist began with her long-term membership as first violinist of the Uptown String Quartet and the Max Roach Double Quartet. Monroe’s solo violin version of the spiritual, an excerpt from her musical memoir “Violin Woman, African Dreams,” was recorded live at the historic Cliveden House in Philadelphia.
