Encountering Islamic Tradition: Broadening Knowledge, Fostering Dialogue

December 18, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EST

Free

In an age where the word “Islam” has polarized our society over its implications and meaning, the need for truth and understanding is more relevant than ever before. October’s violent attack in New York City that was claimed by ISIS to be in the name of “Allah” was yet another example of the challenge we face to understand what this religion is about, and what it means for those who worship Allah.

We are pleased to be joined by Dr. John Azumah, a Professor at the Columbia Theological Seminary, who will walk the path of dialogue with us to help us gain a deeper understanding of Islam. Through conversation, Dr. Azumah will go through the main tenets of Islam and explain why there is such diversity among those who call themselves Muslim.

The event will be moderated by Alexi-Noelle O’Brien-Hosein, a journalist with the international Turkish channel, TRT World. There will be time for question and answer following the discussion. Free and open to the public. No RSVP needed.
