Men’s Advent Retreat

December 2 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm EST

The men’s retreat will be held Saturday, December 2 from 9 AM to 2 PM at St. Vincent Ferrer. The theme will be “Seeing the Eucharist Again for the First Time: Art and the Sacrament” and will be given by
Fr. Bonaventure Chapman, O.P.
This retreat focuses on why art is so important to the Catholic sacramental imagination by first looking at how we see art works (with the assistance of SVF parishioner Andy Warhol and the art philosopher Arthur Danto) and then how this kind of seeing is elevated by grace to perceive Christ in the sacrament of the Eucharist.
Fr. Bonaventure Chapman, O.P. was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. After training for the Anglican priesthood at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford University, Fr. Bonaventure converted to Catholicism, entered the Order of Preachers, and was ordained a priest in 2017. After teaching philosophy at Providence College, RI, he completed a Ph.D in philosophy at Catholic University in 2023 and joined the faculty of the School of Philosophy in Fall 2023. Father Bonaventure enjoys viewing great American art, sailing, and finding American toads whenever the opportunity presents itself.
We ask that you please register on our website at’s retreat. A $20 donation is asked to cover the cost of lunch.
