The Land and People of Israel in Contemporary Catholic Thought

May 4, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 9:00 pm EDT

The Philos Project is pleased to invite you to a conference entitled The Land and People of Israel in Contemporary Catholic Thought on May 4th in New York City. This summit marks the release of a new book entitled Contemporary Catholic Approaches to the People, Land, and State of Israel (CUA Press, 2022), edited by Dr. Faydra Shapiro and Dr. Gavin D’Costa. The book is the product of a 2019 Philos Project conference held in Jerusalem with the Latin Patriarch HE Pierbattista Pizzaballa along with a number of Jewish and Arab intellectuals (including the former Patriarch Michel Sabbah) to discuss the theological and ethical dimensions of the Holy Land in Catholic thought. The conference will begin with snacks and coffee at 11 AM at the New York Hilton Midtown, followed by panel discussions, a luncheon, and networking time. At 5:30 PM, you are invited to celebrate Mass with The Most Reverend James Massa at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and to pray the Rosary afterwards for continued Catholic-Jewish friendship and understanding on the Cathedral steps. The summit will conclude with a happy hour for all attendees from 7-9 PM at the HAVEN Rooftop. Please RSVP here by April 22nd at 11:59 PM EST, and feel free to reach out to Shannon Walsh (shannon@philosproject.org) with any questions
