Catechist Job Description
The catechist position offers a unique experience for people looking to grow their faith and use their gifts in service of the Catholic Church through helping middle school students mature their faith.
General Information
- 9 month span (Flexible: will take catechists for part of the program)
- 20 sessions/1 hour long/Sunday mornings
- 9 catechist development sessions
Responsibilities
- Lead small group of six to ten teenagers with the following activities during classes
- Introductory activity
- Application activity
- Prayer activity
- Distribute updates and at home activities
- Communicate with the parents of your small group of teenagers via email about the session’s content and their child’s progress
- Prepare for the session by reading the prep email sent out one week before session
- Provide feedback from the session by responding to a feedback email sent out the Monday after the class
Qualifications
- Must be a fully initiated Catholic
- Must go through the Protecting God’s Children program (provided by the Archdiocese)
- Must pass a background check

The performer position offers a unique experience for talented people looking to act in children’s
drama. The performer will act in the church’s Family Assemblies, which conveys Christian
values to children and their parents. Seeking reliable, convincing, and entertaining performers.
General Information:
-9 month span ( Flexible : will take actors/actresses for part of the program)
-20 performances/ 1 hour long/ Sunday mornings
-10 rehearsals
Responsibilities
-Educate and entertain elementary school age children and their parents on Scripture,
Catholic Tradition, and virtue
-Interact with children and parents before and after the Family Assembly
-Prepare for the Family Assembly by reading the script and by attending rehearsal
-Provide feedback on the Family Assembly program
-Report to the Faith Formation Director for Children and Students and the Family
Assembly Director
Qualifications:
-Must have some experience in theatre/performing arts
-Must go through the Protecting God’s Children program (provided by the Archdiocese)
-Must pass a criminal background check

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Administrative Assistant/Secretary for the Egan Pavilion
Purpose
To provide administrative support to the Director and/or Assistant Director at the Egan Pavilion coordinating the services and facilities necessary to assist priests of the Archdiocese of New York to enter into retirement from official Archdiocesan responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director or Assistant Director at the Egan Pavilion in defining, developing and implementing manual and automated record keeping systems.
- Create and maintain personnel folders for all retired priests at the Egan Pavilion, including the design and implementations of required forms.
- Process and monitor monthly expenses and revenues for the residences.
- Organize regularly scheduled and special meetings.
- Maintain administrative liaison with retired priests at the Egan Pavilion.
- Maintain administrative liaison with health care and other service providers.
- Update the placement of priests at the Egan Pavilion.
- Provide support to other clerical staff as needed and be willing to cross train other staff.
- Assure that all policies, practices, methods and procedures conform to the Archdiocese’ mission and ethical values, and that they are applied equitably among all staff members.
- Monitor health insurance for all retired priests and to assist them with any questions or concerns to ensure that they are paying the correct co-pays and ensure all insurances have been applied.
Performance Standards
- Ensure that manual and automated personnel records of all retired priests are accurate and up to date.
- Ensure that invoices are paid and revenues are sent down to 1011 Finance office.
- Receive and refer calls to the Egan Pavilion from retired priests and follow up to assure resolution of the problems or issues and notify the Director and/or Assistant Director.
- Contact retired priests through Christmas and Birthday cards to let them know that they are cared about.
- Assist the Director or Assistant Director at the Egan Pavilion with desk and computer work when requested.

GRSS- Regional Human Resources Coordinator
Purpose: Position reports to the GRSS Director of Human Resources. The Human Resources Coordinator will assist in the day to day Human Resources activities for their assigned Region(s).
Summary of Responsibilities
In their region(s) of responsibility, advise and assist in the HR functions of salary and benefits data entry, HR Online (Paychex) payroll processing of all new hires, terminations, changes to employee’s records, conduct on boarding & orientation of ALL new employees
Liaison between Regional Superintendents, Business Managers, Treasury Supervisors, Accounting Coordinators and Principals
Communicates with the Director of Human Resources & HR Department for direction in resolving all issues relating to bargaining and non-bargaining employees.
Performance Standards
50% Generate new & maintain employee records in HR Online and Payroll Preview
for assigned schools in areas such as compensation, benefits: Medical, Life, Supp. Life, FSA, Commuter, STD, LTD, and AD&D, 403(B).
Coordinates new hire on-boarding as it relates to payroll, employee benefits and conducting new hire orientations.
Process employee terminations in accordance with established procedure.
25% Responds to questions, concerns or issues from employees, Regional Superintendents, Business Managers, Treasury Supervisors, Accounting Coordinators and Principals via email, phone or a combination thereof
10% Ensure proper completion of required documents for leaves of absences, to include Workers Compensation, Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD), Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) as well as all related correspondence.
10% Develop and produce reports and analyses, as required utilizing Excel spreadsheet formats
5% Special projects and other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Education Required: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field
Experience Required: 2-3 years experience in Human Resources including direct contact with employees and and management. Experience in interpreting & working with union contracts a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook for email. Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.
Valid Driver’s License required.
